Privacy Notice
Last updated: 11 September 2026
StartScout respects your privacy. This notice explains which personal data we process when you create a Scout, why we process it, and what rights you have.
1. Who is responsible?
StartScout is provided by Stille Consultancy. Full contact and company details can be requested at section 13 at the bottom of this page.
2. What information do we process?
- first and last name;
- email address;
- the event you ask StartScout to monitor;
- your chosen alert language;
- confirmation and consent information, including timestamps;
- limited technical information needed for security and abuse prevention, such as IP or rate-limit data.
3. Why do we process this information?
We use it to:
- confirm your email address;
- provide the Scout you requested;
- alert you when we verify a relevant opportunity;
- prevent or investigate abuse, spam and technical problems;
- comply with legal obligations where necessary.
For Scouts and their alerts, we rely on the consent you provide when requesting a Scout. For necessary security and abuse prevention, we may rely on our legitimate interest in keeping StartScout secure and reliable.
4. Withdrawing consent
You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting privacy@startscout.eu. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
5. Service providers
- TransIP for hosting, infrastructure and email services;
- Scaleway for transactional email and technical AI infrastructure.
These providers process information only to the extent needed to provide their services to StartScout.
6. Artificial intelligence
StartScout uses AI to analyse public information about sporting events and to prepare draft opportunity and alert text. The AI workflow focuses on event information. Your name and email address are not required to analyse public event information.
StartScout does not use AI to make automated decisions about you that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
7. Cookies
StartScout currently does not use advertising or marketing cookies or cross-site tracking. Strictly necessary technical cookies or similar security mechanisms may be used to operate and protect the service.
8. Retention
Information associated with an active Scout is retained for as long as necessary to provide that Scout. Information from unconfirmed requests and technical security information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for confirmation, security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting.
After a Scout ends, personal information is retained only where necessary to handle requests or disputes or to comply with legal obligations.
9. Do we sell personal data?
No. StartScout does not sell personal data. We share it only where necessary with service providers to operate or secure StartScout, or where required by law.
10. Transfers outside the EEA
StartScout's current core infrastructure is located in Europe. If personal data is processed outside the European Economic Area in the future, appropriate GDPR safeguards will be used where required.
11. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights including access, correction, deletion, restriction, data portability, objection and withdrawal of consent.
To exercise a privacy right, email privacy@startscout.eu. We may ask for enough information to verify that the request is genuinely yours.
12. Complaints
If you have concerns about our processing of personal data, please contact us first if possible. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
13. Contact & company details
These details are shown on request.
14. Changes to this notice
We may update this privacy notice if StartScout or our processing changes. The latest version will always be published on this page.
